Gilas Pilipinas will be facing Indonesia in the semifinals of the 33rd Southeast Asian Games men’s basketball competitions on Thursday in Bangkok. Gilas Pilipinas face a first real test when they take on Indonesia in the semifinals of the Southeast Asian Games men's basketball.
Indonesia routed Vietnam, 89-66, in Wednesday’s quarterfinals to set up a last four battle with the Filipino cagers at 2 p.m. local time (3 p.m. Philippine time) at Nimibutr Stadium.
It will be a rematch of the semifinal battle in 2023 when Gilas won in Cambodia. Of course, Indonesia famously stunned Gilas in the pandemic-delayed 2021 Hanoi edition to win the gold for the first time.
The other side of the semis bracket pits host Thailand against Malaysia, also on Thursday.
The women’s team will also face Indonesia in the semis at 11:30 a.m. (12:30 p.m.).
Gilas Pilipinas turn its focus to a high-stakes semifinal showdown against Indonesia in the Southeast Asian Games on Thursday, Dec. 18. Tip off is set at 3:00pm at Nimibutr Stadium in Thailand.
